As counselors at Kettering Middle School, we are here to help your child with any social, emotional, or personal problems that are preventing them from learning. This is done through individual and group counseling, intervention meetings, and referrals to community resources.
Confidentiality is always kept between the student and the counselor on any social, emotional, or personal problems they are experiencing. Confidentiality will be broken if the student gives permission or if the student is at risk for harming themselves or others, they or someone they know are being harmed, or they are in danger. See American School Counselor Association (ASCA) confidentiality guidelines here.
In addition to helping your child learn, we also make their schedule, coordinate their standardized testing, provide character guidance lessons as needed, consult and collaborate with teachers, administrators, & parents, and respond to a school crisis or emergency situations.
A student may see their counselor by filling a self-referral form in the office or on the Student Links website, at the request of a parent, administrator, staff member or friend.
